Mom's ride got some muscle!

Exterior: The ML63 AMG looks as if my mom let me have her base model ML to do as a I please with an unlimited budget and customize it to my liking. And just as I would, AMG added their touch with styling cues such as aggressive front and rear fascias, widened front fenders and optional 21-inch AMG wheels. Also, the LED lights up front coupled with a pretty sweet grille indeed make the ML63 something that garners more looks than your average mid-sized luxury SUV. I also found the ‘Bi-Turbo’ badging to be cool as it’s a reminder to you and everyone else that this bad little beast may just have some balls.

Interior: Inside of the ML63 is a nice mix of German luxury and refined purpose. The front sport seats are comfortable and properly bolstered for any winding corners and although the ML isn’t a large vehicle, the cabin felt quite large for the ML’s size. All the materials, of course, are premium and there’s just the right amount of flair and functionality throughout the interior.

A/V: The ML63 comes nicely equipped with an infotainment system sporting a seven-inch display, navigation and the Harmon/Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system with Bluetooth audio streaming, HD radio and a USB port. I always enjoy the COMAND dial remote dial system as opposed to a standard touch screen so that was definitely a plus on the ML63 as well. And that Harmon/Kardon system? It hits every note perfectly.

Performance: The ML63 is damn near a muscle car in soccer mom’s clothing. The acceleration and throaty exhaust note alone almost justify the fact that the ML63 is double the price of the base model ML. The ML63 will scamper to a quarter mile in 12.6 seconds, stop on a dime due to massive AMG brakes and take the corners in a controlled fashion thanks to the AIRMATIC suspension with adaptive damping system and active curve system. The power under the hood is thanks to a twin-turbo 6.2L V8 that pumps out 518 hp and 516 lb-ft torque. With AWD capabilities, this makes for a roller coaster of a ride if you bury the pedal in the carpet.

Floss Factor: While in the car pool lane, you’re certain to stand out as the rumbling idle of the beastly V8 hums along and the aggressive styling certainly sets it apart from the rest of the pack.
