Mercedes-Benz can do no wrong. Sure, Benzes may cost a pretty penny, but every square inch of this car is worth all that time you spent saving. From the bank doors and armored-tank feel comes a highway hauler that feels just as homey at 80 mph as it does at 130 (at which point the limiter comes in with aggression). Pictures don’t do the CL550 justice, either, because looking at this coupe in person evokes more emotion than a picture ever could: sweeping profile, aggressive vented hood and a body that seems to stretch forever. This is a boss’s car in every respect.
And like any boss, you should have a chair that massages you at breakneck speeds. Fortunately, with the Premium Package, the CL550 does it with aplomb. Breakneck speeds also come relatively quickly—check that, they come fast as hell. Even the “base” CL comes equipped with a twin-turbo V8 capable of turning that wack-ass tuned Cavalier next to you into mincemeat. This car chows down highway and spits it back out like a blender spits out smoothies, and the more power you add, the better it tastes. If you’d like to become the boss of your block, look no further: This Merc is as merciless as it gets.
