2010 Lexus IS-F

Lexus shows us their rarely-seen sporty side.

Story: Alex Bernstein

Lexus is known for classy, comfortable sedans, but none have ever made your friends giggle like schoolgirls. That’s where the F Performance division comes in. Comprising two models—the LFA and the IS-F—F Performance has filled the “fast” void for Lexus. The best part: Class and comfort are still very much there. With widened fenders, monstrous brakes and vents big enough to devour a baby, the IS-F catches pedestrians off guard. The sound of the Yamaha-tuned V8 is addictive.

Not that it should be anything else— 416hp and 5.0 liters are nothing to sneeze at. The grunt of this beast is grin-inducing, the eight-speed gearbox is brutally quick, and from a dead stop, it’ll launch you to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. But if you want to kick back and coast, that’s no problem— we just don’t recommend it. Yes, a Lexus can be this much fun.
