Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is not typically a tire brand that comes to mind in our automotive segment, as it primarily comes stock from the factory and frequently gets changed when upgrading rims. The all new Eagle Sport is replacing the Eagle GT which already had some pretty impressive attributes but has not been first in line when upgrading to new wheel/tire combo. However, the brand new Eagle Sport All-Season tire might be a game changer as it’s aimed at our growing high-performance automotive market and will likely become the tire of choice for many of us.
The new Eagle will become available in the next six months with 47 different sizes and best of all comes with a 50,000-mile tread warranty in V and W-speed ratings. Goodyear continues to advance in comfort, grip and responsiveness which ultimately are the goals of any tire brand, however the difference is they have been able to improve in those sectors and still maintain winter drivability.
The asymmetric tread pattern is designed to maximize grip by means of angled tread block edges which aids in having the contact patch as large as possible. It doesn’t end on the visual side; the tire is also impressive under the skin as it features silica in the rubber compound which improves tread wear and traction while maintaining wet and snow grip. The evolution of the tire alongside the entire automotive landscape clearly shows in its design. It maintains amazing grip levels in the dry and good wet/snow capabilities thus providing year-round use. For the price level it will fall in, consumers will be getting great performance without compromise.
