Audi Upping The SUV Heat With The SQ5

354 horsepower in a small SUV should make things plenty spicy.

Audi makes some of the sleekest SUVs out there these days—just check out this Audi Q7 on 23″ ENCO rims, or this Q7 on D2FORGED 24″ VS9s. But as much as it’s important for a whip to look good when rollin’ slow, it’s also key for a choice ride to have plenty of muscle to back up its looks. So we’re glad to see Audi is stepping up the midsize Q5’s game with the introduction of the new SQ5.

The SQ5 takes the basic Q5’s 3.0 liter supercharged V6 and ups the power to an impressive 349 horses and 346 lb.-ft. of torque, which, along with the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive system, should allow the SQ5 to squirt from 0-60 in five seconds or less and on to a top speed of 155 mph. 20″ rims come standards, with 21s optional; combined with the SQ5’s unique bumpers, rear spoiler and platinum gray radiator grille, those exterior changes should help discerning eyes pick the SQ5 out from the Audi masses while imparting aggression that anyone can see.

Look for the SQ5 to officially drop at the Detroit Auto Show next week, with units rollin’ into showrooms in the next couple of months. No prices have been announced yet, but with a loaded Q5 3.0T starting at $51,400, we bet the SQ5 will run a bit less than $60K when it hits the States. We’re looking forward to driving one. [Shout-out to Audi!]
