In the US, bigger is better, so it should come as no surprise that in recent years Americans have taken a liking to the Porsche Cayenne. If you are one of the few that wasn’t sold on it already the 2014 Cayenne Turbo S was debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit over the weekend and at 550hp even the biggest of skeptics should be swayed.
With 50 more horsepower than the Cayenne Turbo, the Turbo S’s 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged engine will produce a 4.3 second 0-60 time and reach a top speed of 175mph. These are impressive numbers for a coupe or sedan and insane for a car which, we imagine, is used to chauffeur the kids to school and basketball practice. Fortunately, insanity can be fun and with the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus there is little doubt that this SUV won’t perform like its elite sports car brethren. So if you’ve been waiting for the ultimate performance SUV you needn’t wait longer than this spring (which should also give you ample time to come up with the $146,000 starting price).
[Shout-out to Porsche!]
