Big trucks are great for stuntin’ and cruisin’, but when it comes time to put the hammer down, there’s no way a brick like a Cadillac Escalade could keep up with a technological marvel of a sports car like Nissan’s GT-R, right? Guess again. All it takes is 850 horsepower.
This gem of a video comes from Hennessey Performance of Texas, a shop best known for cranking Dodge Vipers up to Bugatti Veyron-like horsepower outputs. Hennessey took a new Escalade and went to town on the 6.2 liter V8, twin-turbocharging it and adding pretty much item they could find in the shop that would strengthen the engine. The resulting truck makes a quoted 1,000 horsepower, supposedly giving the all-wheel-drive Caddy the ability to blast from 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds.
So why doesn’t the title mention a “1,000 Horsepower Escalade”? Simple—when the video was made, the Cadillac was only tuned to produce 850 horses. And it still manages to send that Nissan GT-R off to bed without supper. Where do we sign? [Shout-out to Jalopnik!]
