What music are you listening to in the car right now?
I only listen to CDs, really—rarely individual songs. For my 10 current CDs, I’ve gotta go with God’s Son from Nas, the first Blueprint [Jay-Z], Ready to Die and Life After Death [The Notorious B.I.G.], Me Against the World and Makaveli [2Pac]. Those were some fire muthafuckas!

Some solid classics. Anything else?

This is going to surprise you—Floetry’s unplugged album, [Floetic]. Hell yeah! The Fugees’ [The Score], especially that “Ready or Not,” which is still the shit. LL Cool J’s Bigger and Deffer and Tical [Method Man] are all in my car right now. I just downloaded Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 mixtape. Lately, I’ve been listening to DMX’s It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. It’s the whole attitude and mood it puts you in.

You’re known for your hard records. What song makes you mash the dash the hardest?

2Pac, “Me Against the World”; it goes so hard in the car ’cause every person—man or woman—when they wake up, feels or has felt like that. People make comments about you and negative statements all the time. But when you’re in the car by yourself, you can just zone out. It’s just one of those real, anthem-like songs.

Whose music do you like to play when you’re stuck in traffic?
I don’t play no music when I’m stuck in traffic. I’m so aggravated. I’m mad as hell.

How about when you’re driving in the left lane on a clear highway?

I usually play Three 6 Mafia…with Project Pat. I listen to Texas music during the day because it’s kind of laid-back and smoother. Then I go up north for a while, before I start dropping down and playing some Southern music.

Which tracks on your mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me 4: Banned From America, make the best driving music?
The song off my mixtape that gets me turned up right now is “J Well.” That muthafucka’s got a lot of energy in it, man. It just makes you turn the fuck up.

What’s your favorite ride to hit the road with and blast music from?
My favorite car to listen to music in is my [Bentley Continental] Flying Spur.

What’s your system sounding like?
I got two 12s in there. Beat is crazy in that thing. It’s almost ignorant the way it bangs out.
