Halfway between Boston and Providence, the tiny town of Sharon, MA, is home to a small audio shop that specializes in big monster sounds. Since opening its doors in April of 2002, Advanced Audio Designs has been disturbing the peace in the Northeast with its full-blown audio/video customization capabilities. Primarily focused on building promotional vehicles, owner Jeremy Katz operates strictly by word of mouth, sans showroom, and enjoys building his showstopping, eardrum-popping creations in a wide range of whips.

The lack of advertising and signage might make potential clients balk at the sight of Katz’s work environment, but each mobile sound system to roll out its doors is nothing short of a home run. “It helps maintain exclusivity,” explains Katz. “I’d rather operate this way and create something new each time than just do the same set-up over and over.” And keeping things fresh is something AAD has had no problem with. Their installs have included everything from full-blown
show-level Honda Civics to outfi tting topquality audio/visual in the intricately styled, cramped confi nes of a Lamborghini Gallardo. With such varied experience and a seemingly limitless imagination,AAD stands to keep Sharon on the map as the “Boomtown” of the East Coast.
