’73 chevy caprice on 28s
Two near-death experiences would probably make most riders downgrade their 26s for something closer to the earth. But when the back wheel on Kool’s ’73 Caprice went round and round down I-20 without him (twice), he just decided he needed another car with bigger wheels. Both occasions left the South Cak–reppin’ Georgian with extensive damage to his previous ride’s body, as well as ruining his drawers. “I ain’t gonna lie, it scared the shit out of me!
“After the second time I knew it didn’t make sense to fix it, so I went out looking for the same exact car,” says Kool, who got lucky and found another ’73 that someone had traded in at a local dealer—complete with four dead cats in the trunk. Already knowing that “red turns heads”, the choice of a brandywine/candy-apple red paint job came quicker than a 40-year-old virgin. But it wasn’t until Kool and his younger brother were sipping on some nice Hawaiian Punch that his sibling suggested the theme. “We came up with it, and they [Toppit Customs] perfected it.” To keep it juicy inside and out, there’s a 15-inch sub commemorating each dead kitty, allowing this Caprice to hit harder than good ol’ Punchy himself—and this time, the wheels are staying on!
