Big Wood

Save iron ore - drive a tree

Does building a car out of wood classify as “going green”? We’re really not sure of the answer to that – or why you’d even want to do such a thing. But somebody did. Meet the “Splinter” (that one took a lot of thought, huh?), the first supercar built out of wood. Using a mix of maple, plywood and MDF, the 700hp Splinter prototype does an impressive 240mph top speed. And given the lightweight nature of its build, it’s actually faster than a Porsche or Lamborghini. Believe it or not, there’s actual talk of building the splinter later this year. We wonder if those behind the project have forgotten about crash test standards… or termites?  Source: Luxist
