Busta Dodges the Big One

Rapper rejects plea deal, avoids conglomerate-style prosecution

Though not out of the frying pan just yet, Manhattan Judge Larry Stephen has turned down the heat a bit on Trevor Smith, AKA Busta Rhymes. After rejecting a plea-deal that would have put him on lockdown for one year, Busta found out a little bit of good news in court yesterday- his four charges (two misdemeanor assaults, a DUI and Driving on a Suspended License) cannot be rolled into one mega-lawsuit. Due back in court September 5th, Busta’s trial dates will then be set if necessary, and each charge handled seperately.
