Mitsubishi’s SUVs are solid buys, but most people wouldn’t think of them as the sort of rides you’d go out and customize. Well, most people would be missing out—because as you can see from the images here, the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander and the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport make for excellent platforms for building truly unique cars.

With the help of the H360 Group, Mitsubishi built these two SUVs into a pair of outdoor lifestyle vehicles, each designed for a different season’s activities. The Outlander Sport Summer Edition has been outfitted with burnt orange paint with graphite accents, 20-inch Vossen CV3 rims and Nitto NT420S tires, while the interior’s been upholstered to match the orange-and-gray outsides. In addition, it’s tailor-made for warm-weather activities, outfitted with hot gear like a tennis racket, workout equipment, a pair of Trek mountain bikes, and a waterproof compartment for wakeboarding gear—and a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition camera to capture it all.

The Outlander Winter Edition, on the other hand, is set up for a day on the slopes. White paint and aluminum trim help it fit in on a wintery mountain, while brushed silver 20-inch Niche Targa wheels with StopTech brakes and Falken tires complete the look—and a pair of snowboards are mounted on the roof. Inside, the Outlander Winter Edition’s been outfitted with silver and black trim, along with a ski pole grip knob, a Thermos mounted on the center console, and even a small coffee maker by Keurig. Between the 2014 Outlander Winter Edition and the 2013 Outlander Sport Summer Edition, it’s clear that Mitsubishi has built a pair of SUVs that can handle any season!

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) and the H360 Group have teamed up to create a pair of custom sport-utility vehicles designed for today’s active professionals who prefer to get their exercise in the great outdoors, any time of year.

The 5-passenger 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Summer Edition* and the 7-passenger 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Winter Edition* each have been customized to become the ideal ride for a particular season, complete with integrated sports equipment and cutting-edge technology designed to offer as much fun as possible – whether under the sun or on the slopes. The companies have launched a microsite in support – www.h360mitsu.com – featuring behind-the-scenes video of the build projects as well as interviews with celebrity strength and conditioning specialist Jay Cardiello and professional snowboarder Bryan Iguchi.

Both the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander have been named “Top Safety Pick+” winners from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) – the highest achievement awarded by the non-profit vehicle research and crash test ratings agency. Mitsubishi Motors is the only auto manufacturer to have its entire SUV/crossover model lineup designated as “Top Safety Pick+” vehicles.

2013 Outlander Sport – Summer Edition
Designed to be the perfect companion for warm-weather outdoor sports, the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Summer Edition comes fully equipped with some of the latest and greatest sporting gear and goods on the market.

Features include his-and-hers roof-mounted Trek© mountain bikes, along with a tennis racket, jump rope, various kettlebell workout weights and resistance bands, yoga mats, and exercise wear housed in custom-made storage sections in the rear cargo area. A wakeboard vest and ski rope can be found in a new waterproof compartment in the rear cargo floor.

New tech equipment includes an HD camera with wi-fi remote to document whatever adventures the driver and passengers embark upon, along with an extensive exercise workout program on a USB drive plugged into the front console. There’s also a headliner-mounted iPad© Mini, which can access the Internet using the vehicle’s integrated wi-fi network.

New burnt orange paint with graphite accents, 20-inch graphite wheels with Nitto NT420S tires and new interior features including black leather/perforated leather, gray suede and orange stitching and interior trim painted burnt orange to match the eye-catching exterior round out this handsome and user-friendly customized Outlander Sport.

“The practicality of this car reflects my lifestyle – always on the go, and I never have to skip a beat,” said Jay Cardiello, celebrity strength and conditioning specialist and Fitness Editor-at-Large for Shape magazine. “Whether I’m at the beach and I want to hit the waves with the Boogie Board, or I want to hit the hills or mountains with the bike, or I want to jump onto the sand and hit the yoga mat, everything is there.” Click here to see a video with Jay and the Outlander Sport Summer Edition.

The American-made 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport – the Japanese auto manufacturer’s best-selling model – is a stylish and well-equipped compact crossover with roomy seating for five adults that is also highly fuel-efficient with an EPA fuel economy rating of 31 mpg highway (CVT-equipped 2WD models). And, thanks to its sure-footed traction from Mitsubishi Motor’s All-Wheel Control (AWC) all-wheel drive system that was developed from multiple championship-winning seasons in the challenging World Rally Championship, the 2013 Outlander Sport is the ideal vehicle for active outdoor lifestyles.

2014 Outlander – Winter Edition
In order to create the ideal vehicle for winter recreation, the Outlander Winter Edition was outfitted with a comprehensive selection of gear needed for a day on the slopes.

There are his-and-hers roof-mounted snowboards, as well as matching jackets, gloves and snow pants that are located on a metal LED shelf in the trunk, along with his-and-hers goggles and snowboarding boots. For those cold mornings, the Outlander Winter Edition comes with a mini coffee maker in the rear cargo area and an LED-illuminated Thermos© mounted in the SUV’s center console. To document any extreme moves on the slopes, an iPhone 5 camera lens has been placed in the armrest and an HD camera is located on the dashboard. There’s also a custom Recaro© children’s booster seat in back, for any little snowboarders-in-training.

To further set it apart from the rest of the cars on the road, the Outlander Winter Edition is painted an alluring white hue and outfitted with brushed aluminum exterior trim, along with brushed silver 20-inch wheels with upgraded brakes and tires. Inside, there’s new black leather and light gray suede-covered seats with yellow stitching accents. The interior trim has also been painted to match the exterior. All-weather floor mats are designed to keep melting snow/ice at bay, while a ski pole grip shift knob adds a final touch of winter wonder to the interior.

Equipped with the company’s technologically-advanced, top-of-the-line Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system for outstanding traction and handling in challenging weather and/or road conditions, the new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander is available with a host of highly advanced safety technologies including radar-based Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems as well as a camera-based Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system (available as part of the Touring Package on SE and GT models).
