Lexus brought the world the new IS at the NAIAS today and at first glance the grille redesign is harsh, but with any major design change it will likely soften the more one is exposed to it, at least we hope. The rest of the body redesign is a pretty standard clean and updated look with more of a Toyota feel than Lexus off the bat.
The IS Sport Sedan will be offered in the 250 and 350 with a 2.5 liter V6 and 3.5 liter V6, respectively and both will be offered in unchanged rear wheel drive as well as the all-weather drive option. If you’re gas conscious and living in Europe or Japan you will benefit from a third option, the 300h, featuring the new 2.5L Atkinson-cycle engine. The IS will also feature the Drive Mode Select system which allows for the driver to select from ECO, NORMAL and SPORT in both the 250 and 350 with an added SPORT S+ in the 350 only. These driving options will make for a quick selection of the proper handling, fuel economy, and performance for any driving situation. The IS will hit dealerships middle of 2013.
[Shout-out to Lexus!]
