The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe hasn’t been out for a week yet, but already somebody’s leaked pictures of the new C7 Corvette convertible onto the web. Maybe. We have our doubts.
See, the pics you see here came from a site called The Auto Insider, which claims the pictures are not renderings—”no pixels were pushed,” they said, which seems to imply these are legit pics of the actual Corvette Convertible. However, Chevrolet director of communications Michael Albano said the pictures are not of the new Corvette Convertible, and since he’d have to be one hell of a bold-faced liar to say that actual pictures of a Corvette Convertible aren’t pictures of an actual Corvette Convertible, we’re gonna believe him.
But there’s a way both sides could be right here. It’s possible these pictures are of a scale model of the new Corvette Convertible. They briefly popped up on the website for Maisto model cars, and lookin’ at them real closely, the seats look awfully hard and plastic-y—even more than usual for the Corvette. (Hey-o!) So yeah, we’re guessing this is the model version of the Corvette Stingray ‘vert. But we’re also guessing this is pretty much exactly what the real Corvette Convertible will look like when it shows up in six to 12 months. [Shout-out to Jalopnik, who we don't always agree with but they had the hook-up on this one so we gotta give 'em credit]
