D’vinci Forgiato

No doubt Forgiato sees things more clearly than most when it comes to the future of custom wheels. Their new transparent rollers, the Radurra, is produced through a process known as bezel setting, a technique so first-class it’s used by diamond jewelers. “We’re [targeting] extremely high-end vehicles: Mercedes, Lambos, Ferraris,” says Forgiato founder Norman Elik. “The idea is to show off your brakes on a luxurious vehicle.” The see-through roller is the three-year-old brainchild of Forgiato’s Doug McGoon.

“It’s really hard to work with, but extremely durable,” explains Elik. The center piece is made of polycarbonate, a high-grade synthetic used on the windows of space shuttles. The Radurra, which means “clear” in Italian, is Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) tested, and pulled in 14 national awards at the 2006 SEMA show in Las Vegas. ’Bout the time you read this, 20 and 22-inch wheels will be for sale [24-inch wheels may be available soon].

Cost? Roughly 20-grand for a set of 20s and $500 more for a set of 22s. Elik says the fact that the Radurra is clear might prompt some to paint the wheel, although he’s guessing most will probably roll ’em as is.

The wheel of choice to show off ya fancy brakes is as clear as, well, crystal.
