arrested developmentNew Jersey D.A.R.E.s to keep cops from driving wack whips. by Omar Mazariego For those who thought that they’d have to learn how to rap, sing or play professional ball to push a tricked-out car, you’ve been given a brand-new option: you can join the police department. In Sayreville, NJ, police officers are now running down criminals in style. At the request of the Sayreville Police Department and D.A.R.E., a program designed to help educate kids on drug and alcohol issues, F1 Motoring put together a new-age police patrol vehicle for the Sayreville Police Department. “They had an idea of how they wanted [the cars to look],” says Frank Darquea of F1 Motoring. “And we just went and put it together.” In an effort to further bridge the gap between teens and law enforcement, the police department gave D.A.R.E a Crown Victoria police car for teens involved in the program to redesign. Using their imagination and influence, they created a brand-new police car that symbolizes the effort put in by both parties to give back to the community. Once the idea was put together, F1 Motoring took it from there and put together a car that would make Knight Rider’s car, K.i.t.t., blush. And also contributing wheels to the program’s project is none other than Tigger of BET’s 106 and Park. “The work that D.A.R.E. does is so important in the community,” says Tigger. “[D.A.R.E.] and The Street Corner Foundation do a lot with youth in our communities. It just felt like it fit right in.” Whether or not Lambo doors, 24-inch rims, flaming exhaust pipes and a futuristic hood prove to be effective tools in crime fighting remains to be seen. But what is certain is that as long as law enforcement officials embrace the views and opinions of today’s youth, anything is possible. Big Tigg loves the kids, and kitted cars.
