Xzibit is pimpin’ rides and Hollywood, But he’s adamant about music remaining his main hustle.

Although the past three years of Xzibit’s career have seen a drastic change for the better, thanks to his top-rated MTV series, Pimp My Ride, none of the television success is bigger than hip-hop to Mr. X-to-the-Z. Not to say that he doesn’t enjoy making the kids happy by throwing Lambo doors on Toyota Celicas or putting waterfalls in a Dodge Caravan. But if he hadn’t established himself as a rapper first, providing free fix-ups wouldn’t be enough of a fix for this television star who’s also treading water in Hollywood. That’s why he decided to call his sixth album Full Circle—to remind fans of where he came from. So the next time you see X pimping somebody’s ride, please believe he’s also giving them something to ride to.

Your biggest claim to fame thus far comes from the success you’ve been having over at MTV with Pimp My Ride. When did you get into cars?

When I could afford them, really. I was never into window shopping. I always went straight
to the hustle, and never even thought about buying a car until I could afford it.

Wow. We would have sworn little X was one of the best at playing “That’s My Car” as a kid. What whip did you cop first when your pockets were on full?

The first car I ever got was a black and purple Geo Tracker, but it got repoed [laughs]. The Tracker had a Kicker box in the back, so it was real bassy. You gotta buy a real truck now. Back in the day that was the joint—but then again, Cross Colours were the joint too,
