The model, the color, the bodywork, the customizations; long after the car has driven by, people are still talking about how friggin’ tight it was. Somewhere in the leafy grid of Sumter, SC, there is a custom cherry-red 1975 Impala Sports Coupe, aka, the “Skittles Car,” that has this to say to anyone who beholds its candy-coated goodness: come taste the rainbow. The car’s owner, who prefers to be called Mr. Skittles, took his prized Impala to the boys at Mr. Scrape Customs with the sole intention of driving home in something candy—literally. “It’s not just a Donk,” says Mr. Skittles, “it’s a ’75 Impala Sports Coupe. I just wanted to be a little different. I used the Skittles theme because red is a loud color, but I didn’t just want it to be plain red. So I came up with the idea to use Skittles so the loud colors would really bring it out.”
