Killer Zs car club figured out how to get paid in full…throttle. by Adell Hendersen When the West Coast bad boys of the fairly new Killer Zs car club began remixing their cars and trucks back in high school, the young stars’ motivation was solely based around attracting ass and spending all their cash on rides that flashed. Four years later, the Los Angeles click’s motivation has switched from models to money. “It’s more personal now because everything is so business oriented,” explains founding member Eric Ramirez, 21, who, like many of his friends, started building cars around the way when he was 15-years-old. What the street-smart band of brothers lucked up and discovered was that their main suppliers, whom they had been spending plenty of dough with over the years, were willing to pay to let the fellas enjoy their favorite pastime. “We get paid to build show cars for trade shows which is more than a hobby because it puts food on the table at the end of the day,” Ramirez explains. “It’s crazy because in ’99 we were driving Hondas, but now we’re driving Bimmers, Bentleys and Benzes.”
