The “Teflon Don’s” grandson couldn’t imagine life without his killer whips.
Story r.a. the rugged man /// Photography sumner dilworth
Carmine Gotti, 19, wears his love for his grandfather, deceased New York mobster John Gotti, under his sleeve.
“I got a tattoo on my arm of him with the New York City skyline in the background and a big Mercedes with the logo,” says the co-star of Growing Up Gotti, A&E’s answer to The Osbournes. “He was definitely a Mercedes guy.”
Just like gramps, Carmine isn’t driven by Cadillac or Lincoln old-school Mob vehicles. This teen mack’s leadfoot prefers new-school Euro and American pedals found in the BMW 5-Series and H2 Hummer. After rapping offbeat on VH-1’s But Can They Sing?, RIDES prays he drives better than he covered Nelly’s “Ride With Me.”
Why are we interviewing you and not the other brothers? Are you the car guy in the family?
Yeah, that’s definitely me. I’m into classic cars like the Rolls-Royce Phantom, or a nice Benz, like the new S-Class coming out soon. I’m big into cars. I like speed, man.
What’s the fastest you have ever driven?
160 [mph], on the Long Island Expressway, maybe 150. It was a 2004 Mercedes SL convertible.
I thought you only had a Hummer and a BMW 5-Series. How many cars do you actually have?
Just two. The Hummer and Bimmer are mine. The Mercedes is my Mom’s car, so she’s gonna kill me when she sees this. Hey, Mom, if you read this, I did that a long time ago, when I first started driving.
